CALL’s first project under the “Lost Spaces” banner will be re:verb, a project which will be led by Marinella Senatore, an Italian artist, who works with hundreds of people on VERY large-scale cultural project. Marinella will be working in Llandudno between February and June 2015. She will, in the first instance, be collecting stories from local people about lost moments in their lives: they can be about anything and everything.
From these initial sessions, Marinella will work collectively with the people who wish to tell their stories, to create 7 Llandudno tales.
The next phase of the project is for those people who choose, to work with Marinella’s choreographers to find ways of expressing these stories in non-verbal ways. It will not be a matter of “teaching people to dance”, the essence of this project is that it is led by the participants so, as far as movement is concerned, people will be encouraged to do whatever they feel comfortable with. Not everyone who tells the stories has to move on to this part of the project.
Then, Marinella will begin to develop scripts for 7 short films.
After a week of technical training sessions in April, which will be open to all, the final part of this amazing project will be filming the 7 short films on locations around Llandudno. Marinella and her team will teach people the skills needed to do this.
It is worth mentioning that Marinella’s team, now recognised specialists in their areas, were once volunteer project members.
This large-scale project needs hundreds of people: performers, musicians, singers, costume makers, dancers, gymnasts, film-makers, lighting and audio technicians, storytellers. All non-professionals are welcome. The “non-professional” element is important to Marinella. This project is about opening up opportunities for people and helping them develop new skills.
We will be talking to the local and national press about broadcasting the stories and films so that they reach a wide audience. We do not wish to over-promise but this is one of our project goals.
Please spread the word.
If you are interested in joining re:verb, or know anyone else who might be, in any role, please let us know at info@cultureactionllanduno.co.uk.
We will send you details of when Marinella and her team will be in Llandudno. The first meetings about this project will be held between 12 and 14 February and 3 and 7 March 2015.
