Llandudno Wired :
Investigating and exploring Llandudno architecture with artist Helaina Sharpley.

11+ 12 May

11- 4pm

Tabernacle chapel

1) What will participants be doing?
Is there a building that is particularly iconic or memorable to you in the Llandudno townscape? Looking at the houses, hotels, shops and offices in the town, participants will initially  be producing drawings or taking a photo of the building they choose  by going out into the town.  Helaina will then show you how to create an intricate 3D wire picture of your building.

2) What materials will you use?
Drawing or photography materials, as well as pliers, wire cutters , scissors, wire and board. Please feel free to bring in any drawing materials or camera you wish to use. We will be providing materials and tools for the wire work.

3) What “product” will you end up with?
Helaina will be running the workshop over a course of 2 days. Participants can either develop a  larger, more intricate piece and come for both days , or you can develop a smaller piece and come for day 1 or 2. Please state when booking which session you will be attending.

Due to the nature of the materials we are using this workshop is Ages 16+

Helaina Sharpley

Helaina is a designer/maker, based in West Yorkshire, creating 2D and 3D wirework. Inspiration for her work includes Edwardian and seaside architecture, grandfather clocks and pocket watches.

Using old sepia photographs, Helaina first creates pen and ink drawings, capturing the aspects of elegance.  These are then translated into small and large-scale wire drawings, crossing the boundaries between drawing and sculpture.

Bookings are closed for this event.
