Tabernacle Welsh Baptist Chapel

Artist Jenny Hall has installed a large scale musical instrument within the historic Tabernacle Chapel, Llandudno.

The name (proto) elips comes from ‘proto’, meaning the first or earliest, and ‘elips’, a Welsh-language word meaning ellipse.

Jenny Hall, artist and Creative Director at Craftedspace says:
“Constructed from wooden pipes and tensile steel cables, the instrument, when interacted with, will make sound. The work is a prototype for a giant, free standing elliptical instrument, hence the name. The Tabernacle Chapel is an incredible setting with its own impressive acoustic.

We are inviting the community to listen to, interact and play the instrument; to pluck, hit, knock, bow and listen to the sounds made by the (proto) elips installation. Standing at the centre of the installation, the audience becomes immersed in the sound.”

Bookings are closed for this event.
