Watch History Come to Life


Come and see original, seldom seen artefacts from the  Great Orme Copper Mines, Llandudno Archives and Llandudno Museum and get a chance to imagine life as a Bronze Age miner!

We will be running daily drop -in activity for all the family from 11-1pm and 2-4pm


Drop-in Workshop: Make a bronze-age lamp 

9,12,13,15,20,22  August 2017 

Did you know the miners used animal fat lamps to light their way in passages underground?

What will participants be doing?

Come to our pop-up museum and make a bronze -age lamp using the same techniques that were used 4000 years ago.

What materials will you use?

The clay, mixed with sand and plant fibre, which doesn’t need to be fired, just dried. You will also use a variety of sticks /leaves to make patterns and marks in your lamp. You will have your very own bronze age lamp to take home with you.

All ages and abilities welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied.

What will participants be doing?

Come and find out about the advanced tools that people of the Bronze Age developed to make  artefacts and jewellery. Learn how to use a Bronze Age bowdrill.

What materials will you use?

You will be drilling through a variety of  things including shale and wood, to create a piece of contemporary bronze age jewellery.

All ages and abilities welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied.
