On The Town!
Sketching the urban landscape with Caroline Johnson

What will participants be doing?
You’ll have a preliminary talk/ demonstration before going out to discover and sketch Llandudno.

We’ll look at all aspects of the town, from the more immediate beauty of its architecture and seaside setting, to its hidden details and gritty corners.
In these inspiring workshops you’ll find your motivation and shed any worries about starting a sketchbook!
The use of different materials will be encouraged alongside new approaches and ways of seeing.
All levels of ability are welcome, from beginners to the more experienced.

What materials will you use?
We’ll start with pen and watercolour and then explore the use of other simple materials. To begin with, you’ll need:

A waterproof drawing pen and some cheap colours e.g. children’s set of poster paints will do. And a paintbrush or two.
An A4 or A5 sketchbook (not spiral or glued, but one of the ones stitched and bound like a ‘real’ book).

What product will you end up with?
Through direct observation, you’ll see your town from new perspectives. You’ll have a lively record, too of your personal observations of Llandudno in a sketchbook which will, hopefully, continue to be an ongoing project.

You can attend all or one of the workshop dates, please email honey@cultureactionllandudno.co.uk to confirm your place.
