Llandudno: Matter, Memory, Place
Iwan will be looking at lateral responses to a place. How do your memories and impressions of Llandudno manifest themselves?

1) What will participants be doing?
Participants will focus on putting together their own installations or assemblages composed of fragments that play with the notion of memory. Iwan is particularly interested in allowing paintings and sculptures to develop a dialogue between each other, in other words they act as fragments for a narrative or leitmotif.

2) What materials will you use?
You will be encouraged to create  painting, sculpture, assemblage, film and photography.

3) What “product” will you end up with?
You will develop an installation , which will be exhibited at  FreeHaus.

Students will be given a room in FreeHaus to develop their work in.
Ages 18 +

PLEASE NOTE, SPACES ON THIS COURSE ARE VERY LIMITED AND BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ALL DAYS.

IWAN LEWIS Lives and works in North Wales.  He studied at The Royal College of Art, London.

Painting is at the core of his work. Drawing from a broad spectrum of cultural influence his landscape is often surreal yet diaristic, indulging in mis-readings and failed languages.

Iwan has exhibited widely, in Wales and across the UK.

He was awarded prizes at The National Eisteddfod and The Welsh Artist of the Year in Cardiff. He is the co-founder of Studio Cybi, an  artist-led project space on Anglesey.
